Elastic binders

An essential piece of machinery used in packing businesses to bind things using elastic bands is the elastic binder machine. A secure and tight grasp is ensured by the machine’s automatic elastic band wrapping and binding, which stops the products from slipping or tumbling out of the package.

The following are some major benefits of using an elastic binder machine:

  • Enhanced Product Protection: By tightly bundling products together, the elastic binder machine provides superior product protection. The machine’s usage of elastic bands ensures that the products are securely maintained in place during handling and transportation because of their flexibility and elasticity. This lowers the possibility of breakage, damage, or shifting, which leads to fewer returns or client complaints.

  • Flexible Packaging Options: The Elastic Binder machine can handle a variety of packaging requirements. It is appropriate for bundling a variety of things, including bottles, cartons, cans, and even objects with irregular shapes because it can manage a variety of product sizes and shapes. By removing the requirement for several packaging techniques for various items, this adaptability saves time and labor.

  • Increased Efficiency and Speed: bThe Elastic Binder machine greatly increases packaging efficiency and speed through automated procedures. It can quickly bundle products, resulting in a production line that is efficient. This effectiveness allows firms to optimize their processes and raise overall productivity because it not only saves time but also lowers labor costs.

Machines called elastic binders are employed in the packaging sector to secure and bundle items. The following are some essential characteristics of elastic binder devices:

Here are a few uses for elastic binder equipment in the packaging sector:

  • Bundling of products: Carton, box, bag, or envelope are used as elastic binders to group products together. The elastic bands or wires can be stretched to accommodate different product dimensions, allowing for secure wrapping.

  • Securing pallet loads: Elastic cords can be used to tie the articles together in pallet loads using elastic binder machines. This minimizes the possibility of loss or damage to the goods on the pallet during transportation.

  • Packaging of newspapers and magazines: Elastic binder machines are widely used to bundle publications together in the newspaper and magazine industry. The publications are held firmly in place while yet being simple for the end-user to remove thanks to the elastic bands or cords.

  • Binding of promotional items: Packaging for promotional things like pens, pencils, and keychains uses elastic binder machines as well. Frequently, these things are placed in a box and given to customers or clients.

  • Food product packaging: Elastic binder machines can also be used to package food items like fruits and vegetables. Different product sizes and shapes can be accommodated by the elastic bands or cords, which offer a secure hold while facilitating simple removal by the end user.

The following are some essential qualities of elastic binder machines in the packaging sector:

  • Flexible: In the packaging sector, elastic binder machines can be used for a variety of tasks, including bundling and wrapping goods made of paper, cardboard, plastic, and textiles.

  • Speed: High-speed operation is intended for these devices, some of which can bundle up to 30 items every minute. They are therefore perfect for high-volume manufacturing settings where efficiency and speed are essential.

  • Precision: Elastic binder machines are made to apply elastic bands consistently and precisely, making sure that goods are packaged tightly and securely without suffering harm.

  • Automation: Automated features include automatic band feeding, product alignment, and band cutting. Many elastic binder machines are fully automated. This improves productivity while lowering labor expenses.

  • Simple to operate: Elastic binder machines include simple controls and user-friendly interfaces to make them simple to use. This ensures that operators can immediately become familiar with the machine and cuts down on training time.

  • Low maintenance: These devices have self-lubricating bearings and automatic band tensioning as well as other features that make them reliable and low maintenance. This lowers maintenance expenses and minimizes downtime.

  • Durability: Elastic binder machines are made with sturdy, long-lasting parts and heavy-duty construction to resist the rigors of high-volume production conditions.

Here are a few techniques to ensure the Elastic Binder machines used in the packaging business are of high quality:

  • Conduct regular maintenance and inspections: By inspecting for damage, lubricating, and replacing damaged parts, routine maintenance and inspections maintain optimal operation of elastic binder machines, preventing machine failure, and guaranteeing consistent product quality.

  • Follow manufacturer instructions: For a machine to remain functional and of high quality, it must be used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. It is possible to avoid machine damage and guarantee optimum performance by adhering to the advised safe practices for maintenance, use, and storage.

  • Conduct routine testing: Monthly inspections and testing of elastic binders are required for quality control. These tests include checks for strength and durability as well as monthly inspections.

  • Use high-quality materials: Elastic Binder machines can be made better and last longer by using high-quality parts and supplies, elastic bands, or cords, however using low-quality materials may have a detrimental effect on both the machine and the final output.

The following are important things to bear in mind:

  • Type of packing material:

  • Before selecting an elastic binding device, consider the package material. Whether the material is paper, plastic, or cloth, select a machine that is compatible with it.

  • Production speed:For a machine to satisfy production expectations, it must run quickly. For packaging that is both effective and efficient, look for machines with high production speeds.

  • Usefulness: To save time and money over time, pick a machine that is simple to use and maintain. Look for machinery with easy-to-use interfaces and little maintenance needs.

  • Machine size:When selecting equipment, machine size is an important component to consider. Based on available space and production needs, it should be chosen.

  • Cost:When selecting an elastic binder machine, consider cost and productivity. Achieve a balance between cost and quality and consider the total cost of ownership over the course of the product’s existence.

What is bundling?

Products, such as flowers, cables or vegetables, can be held together by an elastic cord or Strepper®. This process is called bundling. The machines that are used for this are elastic binders (elastic machines) and Elastobinders.

The main reason for bundling with elastic is to keep loose products together to make one shipping unit. Think of loose flowers that are combined into one bunch, after which they are held together by an elastic.

So much more than just flowers

Carrots, asparagus or spring onions, for example, can also be bundled into one consumer selling unit. Bundling products can also be done to pack multiple products at once. Think of a bundle of medicine boxes or hardware. By bundling the products, multiple packages can be packed at once. An additional advantage of bundling with elastic is that the product is not damaged.

How does an elastic binder work?

Bundling with elastic can be done in two ways: with the help of an elastic machine (elastic binder) and elastic or with a Strepper®.

When bundling with an elastic band, one rubber band is automatically placed around the product or bundle of products. The elastic is wound from a large roll (1000 or 3000 m), wrapped around the product, tied with a knot and then cut automatically.

How does an Elastobinder work?

An Elastobinder works in a different way. A roll of Streppers® is fed into the machine, after which the machine takes one Strepper® off the roll. The Strepper® is clamped so that the products can be placed manually or automatically in the Strepper®.

When the products are placed, the Elastobinder slowly releases the Strepper®, so that the products are bundled. The Strepper® is exceptionally soft and suitable for very delicate products such as vegetables (for example asparagus or spring onions) or soft medical tubes. The Strepper® can be made product-specific by adjusting the composition of the material.

What is the best way to bundle?

A number of factors play a role in the choice of the type of elastic or Strepper®. Factors such as the weight of the product, the voltage required, the type of product (hard, soft, food) and the type of machine you use or need.

Our experienced specialists are available to support you in making the decision. Cyklop produces the products completely in-house, which makes it easy to carry out a practical test. Any risk can be excluded and you get exactly what you expect and need.

Consumables – elastic

The elastic produced in-house at Cyklop is called Cylastic. This elastic is suitable for bundling different products, where the size of the product does not matter. The Cylastic binding elastic meets the safety standards and can be used in (fully) automatic bundling of products. Cylastic is available in different thicknesses and colors.

Consumables – Strepper®

Bundling with an Elastobinder is always done in combination with a Strepper®. The elastics are attached to each other on an industrial roll, so they can also be used mechanically. Many handling costs can be saved by working with an Elastobinder with Streppers®. Other advantages of the Strepper® over elastic are:

  • The closed shape of the Strepper®, so that no welding or knotting of the ends is necessary
  • The Strepper® does not deform the product and leaves no traces
  • The Strepper® is flexible: with the products bundled with Strepper® you can remove a product, without the rest of the products falling out
  • The Strepper® is versatile: with one size Strepper® you can bundle large and small products

When do you use elastic and when do you use a Strepper?

Elastic or Strepper®; when do you use what? Usually a Strepper® is used when

  • Soft or fragile products must be bundled. It is possible that fragile products are cut slightly because of the small surface of the Cylastic elastic.
  • The bundled product should look visually appealing. A Strepper® is not knotted, making it more aesthetically pleasing.
  • Smooth or wet products should be bundled. The Strepper® does not absorb water.
